A Butterfly Grand Piano is a small grand made by Wurlitzer in the 30's and 40's. It has 78 keys and a half round back with a spine down the middle. Opened, the piano looks like a butterfly because the two sides open from the back spine, like wings. They were made for apartments and other small homes in many different furniture styles, including Art Deco, classic, French provincial, etc. Has a nice sound for a small piano.
Prior to Wurlitzer made their small Butterfly Grand Pianos, the Danish Piano factory under the name and label of "Søren Jensen" had a very successful line of Butterfly Grand Pianos.
