If you mean a Jazz band, that's easy!

In a Jazz band there are -

A Double Bass, A clarinet, 5 saxaphones (2 alto, two tenor and a baritone), about 4 or 5 trumpets, a percussionist and/or drummist, a Bass Guitar and a Trombone of two. You can also have french horns but they are not traditional.

In a rock band there are -

Drums and/or percussion, Bass Guitar, Electric Guitar, Singer

Well, if you mean a rock band, it really depends on the style but the most common instruments are guitar (electric or acoustic), bass guitar, drums, and keyboard. Jazz bands are usually composed of saxophones (an alto or two, a tenor, and a baritone), trombones (three regular trombones and a bass trombone or two), four trumpets, an upright bass, a piano, and a drumset. A wind ensemble usually has two tubas, two euphoniums/baritones, four trombones, two or three french horns, six trumpets, eight clarinets, five saxophones (of varying, uh, sound) two bass clarinets, a bassoon or two, eight flutes, and an Oboe.

Well it depends what kind of band you want to make. If you want to make a rock/pop band you would have a lead singer, and maybe 1 ot 2 back-up singers, 1 or 2 guitar players, 1 bass guitar player and 1 drummer.
