Bach actually wrote two toccata-and-fugue pairs in D minor, both in 1708. The most famous one (appeared in the original Fantasia movie, and often used as a stock piece of generic "scary music") is BWV 565. The other, sometimes called the "Dorian" toccata and fugue, is BWV 538. Check the number if you're looking to buy a recording!
Toccata and Fugue in D Minor by Johann Sebastian Bach. :) I love this song. It's one of my favorite movies too.
There are no music terms used in the Little Fugue in g minor (BWV 578).
The one piece most people are likely to recognize, even if they don't know the title, is the Toccata and Fugue in d minor, which was famously animated by the Disney Studio in 1939's Fantasia. It has been used as background and incidental music in countless movies.
One that is very familiar is "Toccata and Fugue in D minor" which is widely used at Halloween and for horror films. Other contenders are "Jesu, Joy Of Man's Desiring" and "Air on a G String."

There are a plethora of recordings of as many different organists that have recorded this great JS Bach work. Each one has their own interpretation of the music and may sound quite different.

Bach's notable Toccata and Fugue was written during the Baroque era, as was Handel's famous Water Music Suite.

No Bach was not used in 2004 Phantom of the Opera, it was all written by Andrew Lloyd Webber. 1943 Phantom of the Opera with Claude Rains used Bach when he is playing the organ, Bach Toccata and Fugue in D Minor
The Guitar strings have names eg. ebgda. A string cannot be called d minor. d minor is one of the many Keys that a piece of music is in. eg. Grieg's Piano Concerto in a minor......Bach's Toccata and Fugue in d minor ........get it.....sure you do......don't know how I ended up on this page - I was looking for Müthel's Double bassoon Concerto - possibly in D......
His three most famous pieces would probably be the Brandenburg Concertos, toccata and fugue and Air on a g string amongst others.
The song played during that scene is called "Toccata and Fugue in D Minor" by Johann Sebastian Bach.
This is a piece with much suspense in it's music. Some people has cut the introduction movements for horror and monsters movies. If you hear this music complete, you will see that horror flicks use parts of this piece but it's not intented for such purpose. Most agree like me, that this piece tells a story of the battle between good and evil.
