My 1st impressions of Fagin is that Fagin is an old Jewish man and that he is kind to everyone he also makes Oliver and his pals laugh. He is violent because he nearly attack Oliver and he is also greedy. He is also a murderer he killed one of the people who were working for him because they had told about the jewelery that he had stolen.

"Oliver Twist" was published first in 1837-1839, followed by "A Modest Proposal" in 1729, "Frankenstein" in 1818, and "The Rocking-Horse Winner" in 1926.
Oliver Twist Oliver is born in a workhouse to an unknown woman whose name, the reader learns much later, is Agnes Fleming. He is sensitive, compassionate, kind, loyal, and gentle, and no matter how much he is abused and mistreated, he retains these qualities as well as his deep faith in the innate goodness of people. At times he seems rather naïve; for example, when he sees the members of Fagin's gang practicing picking Fagin's pockets and when he goes out with them to steal but has no idea they are thieves until they run off and he is apprehended for the deed. An example of his loyalty is his love for his childhood friend Dick; when he goes back to the workhouse, his first thought is to find Dick, and he is crushed to learn that Dick has since died. Although he is badly treated by many people in the book and comes to fear them, he never hates them. Similarly, although Monks has spent most of his life trying to ruin Oliver's, Oliver has no hard feelings against him and divides his own inheritance with Monks, although Monks is legally entitled to nothing.
Oliver first lives in the workhouse, then goes to work and live at the undertaker's home for a short period. In London, he lives in 'squat' accommodations with Fagin, the Artfull Dodger, and the rest of the boys, until he escapes and goes to live with Mr. Brownlow.
Probably Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens.
Lionel Bart wrote the music for the 1968 movie named Oliver! There was a 1948 movie but it was not a musical. None of the many other Oliver Twist movies were made in 1946.
