In concert band, the bassoon. The double reed makes it especially difficult, then you add in the bass clef, and its natural out-of-tune nature, and you have a very difficult instrument to play.
In marching band, probably the drum line because of the size of the instruments and the pressure set on you to keep the entire band in tempo.
All instruments are hard to learn at the start and all you do is practice to get better. But i would say that the hardest instrument to learn would be the Oboe or bassoon (but this is at the start). Some people say the violin is the hardest instrument to learn but I disagree as the violin is relatively easy to play at the start compared to the bassoon or oboe however the violin gets very hard very fast and that makes it harder to play as you are always learning something new were as bassoon and oboe once you have mastered the fingerings its not to bad.
But grand daddy of them all is the harp. to learn how to play this could take twice as long as any other instrument due to the numerous strings and positions.
But wind instruments are generally harder to learn that string instruments as it will take longer for you to get your first sound out of it than a string instrument.
But as I said at the start all you do is practice and the instrument will be easy to you.
Well, I'd say that one of the hardest things that you need for almost every instrument is to be able to learn music. Personally, i think the Clarinet is QUITE hard- wind instruments are the hardest. The piano is QUITE easy. But, it doesn't exactly matter which is hardest, learning any instrument is worthwhile.
Ludwig van Beethoven did not play in a band. He was a composer of the Classical and Romantic periods, and able to play several instruments. He did not need to play in a band in order to be considered a great musician.
Melanie Hall, Mark Hall's wife, isn't in the band. She is the band's road manager. As far as I know, she doesn't play any instruments, not publicly at least.
The Go-Gos
This depends on the player, and easiest is very hard to answer, but generally considered less demanding instruments include the Clarinet and the Trombone. Generally considered challenging instruments include the Oboe and the Harp.
Find people who play instruments who like the same kind of music and start rehearsing.
