If the bugle is in the normal key of B-flat, then the notes played by the bugle correspond to the open notes of the trumpet - no valves pressed down at all. If the bugle is in a different key than the trumpet, you will need to transpose the bugle notes into the key of the trumpet to find which notes to play on the trumpet. After you have done the transposition, it should be the case that the same valve combination can be used for all the bugle notes in that key.
Yes, like all electromagnetic radiation can be polarized. The A. T. & T. Long Lines Microwave tower system doubled its long distance call capacity by using cross polarized microwaves. This system operated from the late 1940s to the early 1990s (when fibre optics superceded it, but many of the towers and horns remain, see the image above showing a transmitting/receiving pair of horns).
Oh, this can be so tricky, depending on the meter of the piece in question and how complex the passage is. The quick and dirty answer is that a dotted eighth has the value of three sixteenth notes. You can see that two eighth notes would be equal to 4 sixteenth notes, right? If you pair a dotted eighth note with a sixteenth note (you will see this very often: the two notes are connected with one flag/bar, the dot comes with the first note, and there is an added flag/bar segment to the second note that is short; it doesn't extend back to the first note) then the dotted eighth takes the place of the first 3 sixteenth notes in a group of four sixteenths.

A Great Horned Owl is called such because of the 'horns' they have on top of their heads. They actually aren't horns, or ears, as some think, but simply tufts of feathers that appears to look like a pair of horns.
