Is slipknot the best metal band?

Statistics say that Metallica is better than Slipknot, so does 89% percent of people that listen to them. I personally think that Metallica should not even be compared

They're completely different bands with a completely different set of fans. Slipknot targets a much younger audience, and most of their fans fade out when they get older, say 20+. Megadeth fans are hardcore, and most have been fans of theirs for 15+ years, including myself, and that will never change. Both bands are 2 of the biggest, most popular bands in the world. Megadeth is definitely superior in terms of musicianship, though. And they've definitely sold a ton more albums worldwide than Slipknot has, partially because they've been around 10 years longer and have put out several more records. Doesn't mean they're better, though. It's a matter of opinion. Personally, I love both bands, but Megadeth is definitely the better one for me.

I pesonally like both but Metallica is about 5 times as popular as slipknot. They have been around since 1981 and were pretty much one of the founding fathers for today's heavy metal as we know it. - roxas_riku

NO, NO WHERE CLOSE! Pantera is okay, they have two good albums. Now if they were still around they might have a lot more but Slipknot's albums are all great. MFKR, Slipknot sefltitled, Iowa, Volume .3 the subliminal verses and All Hope Is Gone.

What you're asking is a matter of opinion. 20 years ago, I'd have said yes without any hesitation, and berated you for asking such a question. Nowadays, I'd still say yes, but not by much.
