yeah i got a $116 ticket for not having a rear bumper on my car
According to Ohio's BMV digest of Motor Vehicle Laws pg. 32 "Rear View Mirror Every motor vehicle shall be equipped with a mirror located to reflect to the operator a clear, unobstructed view of the highway to the rear." As long as you have a clear, unobstructed view of the highway to the rear of the vehicle while the doors are removed from your Jeep you are within the Laws stated in the digest.
The law says that: new passenger cars must have two rear-view mirrors (one outside, on the right-hand side, and an inside rear-view mirror) new light goods vehicles must have an outside right-hand side rear-view mirror and either an inside rear-view mirror or an outside left-hand side rear-view mirror new mopeds and motorcycles must have one rear-view mirror all other motor vehicles (except pedal cycles) not covered above need to have at least one rear-view mirror.
There must be a left side outside mirror on all cars driven in the US. The outside right mirror is optional, but pretty much standard on most cars these days. You must also have an interior rear view mirror on passenger vehicles.
Illegal in most states, as it 'obstructs' the driver's view of the road.
