They sang a song, Gimme Shelter, from the Let It Bleed album Answer from Paganbabie: Patti Smith sang the cover of Gimme Shelter, which was played at the end of the 2/15/2009 episode of Big Love. Patti's cover of Gimme Shelter (awesome!) is on her "Twelve" CD. Also check out her covers of White Rabbit and Are You Experienced on the same album.
The Rolling Stones first released their song titled Gimmie Shelter on their album titled Let It Bleed. It was released in 1969 and was written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards.
The song to which I believe you are referring is the Rolling Stones song, Gimme Shelter. However the woman singing is not Grace Slick but, according to Wikipedia, is guest vocalist Merry Clayton. She definitely sounds very much like the great Grace Slick.
