Well if you bought a swimwear for me then I myself would have found that inapropriate.
I think it depends on your level of intimacy and relationship. For some reason my wifes favorite swimsuits and purses are the ones that I picked out and gave to her as presents. I was cautious with the swimsuits however, I used an online company that featured many different styles and colors and ordered different top and bottom styles in a pattern that flattered her overall look. She then chose her favorite 2 or 3 combinations and we sent the rest back. A thong back or transparent fabric has the risk of offending her but offer up a full coverage or Rio type alternative and she may like the opportunity to switch out and feel good about herself in that you thought she would look good in the skimpier version. It worked well for me but again that depends on whether you know your lady or just think you do. What she ended up with was 2 tops and 3 bottoms in the same pattern and color and was pleased with the variety of looks and that she could interchange them at will depending on the circumstance ( IE: full coverage for the waterpark and less for the private pool ) A matching cover up is an excellent addition. Note. I also backed that present up with new sunglasses and 3 months at a tanning spa.
