Who knows. It is not a good idea to infer too much from song lyrics. Goodness, there have been songs about homicides, bank robberies, this does not mean the singers pulled these (Jobs). It seems to suggest the song ( watching Scotty Grow) about a father and son relationship- MIGHT be an adopted child- but there is a problem. One verse at the begining of the song has the narrator running off an unrelated group of letters - and says this meant mom and dad, then adds- that"s not so bad, that"s my boy. The letters to not add up to any familiar word that might imply parents, mother , dad, etc. I never could figure that angle. If Mom and Dad are mentioned- this is not a single-parent family.
