Alecia joined a girl group called Choice in 1995. they sent a copy of their first song "Key to My Heart" to LaFace Records, in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. L.A. Reid overheard it and arranged for Choice to fly there so he could hear them live. when he did, he signed them to a record deal but all the girls were under 18 so their parents had to co-sign the contract. Choice relocated to Atlanta to record an album. The group split in 1998. L.A. Reid encouraged Alecia to go solo so she did with her stage name P!nk.
