I think you would need to know the value of his "estate" which would be all his worldly goods and monies he was due to at the time of his death, his estate is probably worth far in excess of what it would have been when he died with all the royalties from record sales since his death

THE ABOVE ANSWER IS UTTER NONSENSE. First of all, there were no "CDs" when Jimi Hendrix was alive. That format became popular 15 years AFTER his death. Second of all, he may have been poor when he started out (most musicians are after all) but shortly before his death (at age 27) he was a bonafide "rock star" celebrity, flying to gigs on private leased jets, hauling along a large entourage, and generally living the "rock and roll lifestyle". He was about the farthest thing from the "starving hippie" so many people associate him with today. Since his death his estate has grown to an estimated $300,000,000 (Three-Hundred-Million Dollars) - a third of a BILLION - in today's dollars - so that definitely does not qualify as "poor".
