Angus Young, plays guitar in the band AC/DC. You will almost always find him playing a Gibson SG, because he says that it fits him best(he's 5'2"). In some cases where he's borrowing a guitar you can find him playing fender telecasters, Gibson firebirds and Gibson ES335's(when with the rolling stones). He runs these guitars through a radio unit live (chord studio) into several 100w Marshall Heads (5/6 vol, 5 bass, 5mid, 6 treble) through to two 4x4 marshall cabinets for each. For his solos, he runs the guitar into 50w heads at same EQ but at 10 volume do get around the same volume as the 100w heads, possibly a little more. He plays with no effects.
Eric Johnson is most well-known for playing on the stock Fender Stratocasters and Gibson ES335 electric Guitars. He also played on brands such as Robin, Rickenbacker, Jackson, and Charvel.

Refurbished? If not original parts then the value will be reduced. Probably worth $800-1000 wholesale, $1000-1200 retail. If re-finished then would be worth less.

That is mostly based on opinion, personally I like the sg and the les paul, but if you play blues, jazz and rock go for the es335 semi hollow body it makes a good all-around guitar the sg and les paul is good for rock and metal.

According to the official Alvin Lee website (do a Google search to find it) the Gibson ES335 Lee used during Woodstock is in storage. Lee used to tour with it but after someone offered him $500,000 to buy it Lee decided it was to valuable to damage and no longer tours with it. Gibson sells a reproduction of his guitar for about $3,500 but I'm sure it's not going to play as well as Lee's "59. So as far as I know, Lee still has the guitar. Hopefully someday it will be displayed in some museum for all to see. After all, what good is a great guitar without being able to see it or play it. Mike K.
