"Tar Tar" means "goodbye" in burmese. Trust my translation, I'm burmese.

Yes, It's pretty right. However "Ta Tar" is descended from the word of unknown origin "ta-ta". It is not a Burmese word at all. It is merely adopted from the British. Ta-ta is an informal word not only for the British but also for the Burmese. Similarly, the words bye-bye and cheerio are also adopted informal words. Some Burmeses use the expression single bye or double bye-bye at parting. Cheerio is also used by the young Burmese.

We Burmese people say "goodbye" formally like this.

Pyan-dot-mae-(naw) - I'll go home.

Thwar-dot-mae-(naw) - I'll go home.

Hnote-set-par-dae - farewell!

Nout-hma-tway-dar-pot - see you later!

(I'm not exactly sure how to spell it, but it's pronunciation should be something like "mingliaba")--

the right pronunciation is min-gla-ba...but it does not mean hello beautiful...'min-gla-ba' means 'hello'
