remove the black plastic liner in your front passenger side wheel-well...this can be done with the removal of a few screws or rivets..... The power antenna motor and assembly will then be easily accessed. Remove the old one (not much to it) and replace, sites such as Ebay offer new ones for under $40 dollars.
I replaced a power antenna a few years ago and the toughest part was monkeying around under the right fender once the plastic shield was removed. (or folded up out of the way) Do that first with the wheel off and then pull out the old antenna. Just a few nuts hold it in. Disconncec the power and antenna cable from under the dash - pull the glove box out first - and ease them through the rubber seal to the fender well. Once the old one is out of the fender well, reverse the process. It is a real pain to reach up there with only two fingers to get the nuts on, but it can be done. Careful with the special nut that holds the antenna through the top of the fender. It is cast aluminum and you can cross thread the thing or over tighten it. Note: Right after I replaced the power antenna, the things crapped out again. I was stopped at a light, turned on the radio and the antenna extended and popped straight out of the fender. I pulled the white plastic drive cable out of the motor and pushed the antenna back. Reception was great, but the entire replacement process was negated as I was right back to square one with no power antenna. That was two years ago and about a month after I did the replacement. Radio still works. I just left the antenna extended. Personally, I wouldn't do the job again. Pain in the butt.
make sure u got a twin lement bulb one element is for tail light other is for brake light sounds like u just put wrong bulb in

if it is like a '95.....remove the left front wheel.....remove the plastic fender well.....it is attached to a bracket right there above the well....I replaced my power antenna with a short rubber whip antenna.......
Heres the info. that I have. hope it helps... The molding around your radio pops off, you may need to pry in the cornors. take out the 4 screws that hold in the radio, pull out radio disconnect the antenna, power, then plug back in the new one, replace molding.
How do u take out the radio on a 1999 mitsubishi montero sport ls
There aren't headlight covers, it all one unit. One of my lens was cracked and I had to replace the whole unit.

It is inside the fuel tank.
under the rear right seat :-)
If you want to keep it.
Untwist it with pliers.
unless you have access to a lift i would suggest taking it to a mechanic. This is a tough one and well worth the money vs frustration of doing it yourself.
There's a plastic cable with teeth inside your antenna. A gear in the antenna base engages this "cable" and pushes/pulls the antenna. Sounds like either the gear or cable has some broken teeth. It won't hurt for the motor to keep going like this, but your antenna may break at any time. hth, K All true, and new antennas are fairly cheap <$40 and easy to install http://www.antennamastsrus.com/Mitsubishi/Montero%20Sport/Mitsubishi%20Montero%20Sport%201997-2004.htm
The engine is pooped.
