There are three coils, which look like small boxes, to the left of the oil filler cap. One coil provides the spark for two spark plugs. The one of the right, for example, is used for cylinders 3 and 6, the middle 1 and 4, and the one on the left 2 and 5. To replace it, remove the spark plug wire in the front by releasing the catch and pulling it up and away from the coil. Remove the connector and wire on the left by pushing the release and pulling it toward the rear of the car. Then remove the single bolt with a socket. Finally, pull the whole coil up and away from the car. Below the coil is a long boot for the spark plug. Replace with a new one in reverse order. The cost of a coil is about $62 in 2007 prices at discount auto stores.
