Remove the plastic cover surrounding the stereo and air conditioning knobs/vents. Use a flat screwdriver with the tip covered with tape (not to scratch anything). Slip the screwdriver under the plastic cover and pry off, not too hard. If you wiggle around you will find the clips holding it in. Pry near the clips so you don't crack anything. Once the cover is off you should be able to see the bolts holding the radio in. Take the bolts out and pull the stereo out. Unplug the wires and the antenna. Now you have an empty space to add a new after market stereo, I recommend an Alpine.

The key here is two panels, they both hide screws that need to be removed.
The first the the panel between the wind shield and the dash. This panel goes all the way across the dash and is removed by gently and evenly prying up at the rubber seal.
The second is the grid like panel in front of the instrustment information display which also needs to be pryed gently and evenly.
At this point all the screws necessary to remove the dash should be visible.

You need a 15 torx screwdriver. The entire front dash panel has to come off but it's not hard to do at all. Just don't force nothing. Remember that there's a reason why something won't come off and if you rush,you'll break something.Once it's off,everything else is gravy.
I have an 89 Dodge Caravan and I've taken my radio out two or three times. You need simple tools.....a Philips head screwdriver, a racket wrench with an 8mm and 10mm socket. First take out the center console (where the ash tray and tape holder is. The screws will either require a Philips head screw driver or the 8mm racket wrench. To access it, open the passenger door get floor level, and look underneath the center console. There is one 8mm screw on each side, drivers and passenger. Once the console is removed you can remove the woodgrained radio bezel. There should be 5 screws...three visible and two underneath.(that's why u remove the ash tray and center console) Once the woodgrained bezel is off...you'll see the two 10mm bolts holding the radio in place, one is on the upper right corner, the other lower left corner. Take those out...slide the radio out...and disconnect the ground wire (10mm wrench), the antenna lead and the electrical connectors to the radio.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. 2. Remove the control knobs by pulling them from the mounting stalks. 3. Remove the three (3) screws from the top of the radio trim bezel. 4. Remove the ash tray to gain access to the trim bezel lower screws. 5. Remove the two (2) screws from the lower portion of the trim bezel. 6. Pull outward on the left side of bezel to unsnap the mounting clips. Remove the bezel. 7. Remove the radio to instrument panel retaining screws. 8. Pull the radio through the front of the instrument panel and unplug the wiring harness, ground strap and antenna plug.
remove the scews from around the radio,heat controls and there are 2 just above the ashtray the pannel should pop out now there are 2 10mm bolts the hold the radio in position remove them and the radio will slide out carefull not to pull too hard or the antenna cable can break there is 1 10mm bolt on the back of the radio that hold a ground strap this is a verry important wire if its not connected you will burn out any chrystler radio you install then unplug the rest of the wires sometimes 3 or 4 sets depending on if you have the amped CD player or the standard casette radio now you have an empty hole in your dash
starting under the steering column pull out the two plastic screws holding the carpet/cardboard insert, then two screws on the left and right side of the column, holding the plastic piece under the steering column. then carefully pull that piece out, don't pull hard or you will break the fasteners. this is the tricky part. the next piece to come off is the big plastic molding that goes over the instrument panel and the center console. there are many fasteners behind this piece, so pull with caution. after you remove the molding you will have clear access to your radio, which is held in with a few screws. if you plan on putting in a monster stereo system like i did, you will also want to run your rca cables, speaker wires,and remote wire. it is a real pain in the butt to take your car apart more than once.
pull out the ashtray...grab that big plastic panel and work it out. it is only held in by clips...it will take a little force to remove it, but not so much that you will break it. after the panel is removed, there should be 2 bolts that hold the radio in place and are clearly visible. After you remove those...the radio should slide right out.
removal of the radio is really simple. First you need to remove the black trim that is in front of the radio and along the dash board. This is a rather long piece, but it just snaps on and off, so with your hands, start above your gages and just pull hard enought to pop the trim away from the dash. Slowly work your way toward the radio. Once this is removed, you will see two (2) bolts that hole the radio in place. Remove these bolts, and pull radio out slowly until you can reach the back to remove the wire harness and the antenna wire. Once the wires are disconnected, remove the radio.
One does not simply take the radio out of a 1999 c230 kompressor.
With great difficulty.... As far as I can gather you need a 'U' shape tool, which gets inserted into the holes on both sides of the stereo.
