Mostly, they like "America, The Beautiful" or "God Bless America" better. The SSB is very difficult to sing, too. Some ultra-libs who believe the world would love us if we would play nicely think we shouldn't be singing about defending our country with real guns.
Some people think about 2.2 mil. $ on private auction to Paul Allen The guitar is currently being displayed along with other famous Hendrix artifacts at the EMP museum in Seattle, Washington. - Havok
A trumpist. I know because I play the trumpet...:)
I did not know that he did, he simply played it the best he could. Which is pretty awesome. Besides have you heard some of these people butcher it on t.v. before a sporting event? Naw Hendrix didn't dishonor the Star Spangled Banner, he took it to a new level. He made the Star Spangled Banner into a psychedelic song. Hendrix was also a patriot, he would never disrespect our country. He played the song that way to honor the troops that were fighting in Vietnam. The sounds you hear are the bombs dropping, soldiers dying, screaming people, and even the sound of bullets. It is simply magical. - Havok What a silly question. First of all it's art and that is in the ear of the beholder. Second, Jimi was a vet and served in the 101st Airborne, which is volunteer duty, which means he was no hippie idiot who didn't know what patriotism is about, he served and earned the right to play that song any way he wanted. Third, there's no disrespect to the song or the country in his arrangement. Finally, it's the greatest guitar player who ever lived paying tribute to his country, there's no controversy here and they should play it at government functions, in my opinion.

You get the music and if you can play a piano it should be easy, if not impossible
I could easily be wrong here but I thought the first person to play a memorable version of Star Spangled Banner was Jimmi Hendrix at Woodstock.

The National Anthem, The Star Spangled Banner, was written by Francis Scott key during the war of 1812 while being held captive on a British ship. It was not chosen as our national anthem until the first time the US went to the Olympics in 1896. The Olympic committee said we needed an anthem to play if we won- so we chose the Star Spangled Banner over America the Beautiful. Good thing we had a national anthem after that, because we owned everyone there.
