I use AVG free version 6.0.684 with latest updates on a Win 98 P166Mhz 97Mb RAM PC. This seems to detect and heal downloader.keenval types B,C,D&E. My PC detects these in C:\program files\common files\updmgr. Q:Where have any other users discovered these viruses, and do you know how they infect PCs?

I had this viruse and followed the avove link and it worked... i got the viruse from using Kazaa, which happens to alot of people Thanks for the above info was really helpfull :O) x
Had B and C versions of keenval(and two other viruses: VB.DZ and Rameh.A) all came from Downloader. Spy sweeper (the free version) from: webroot.com took care of all of them.

keenval is easily removed by running spybot search and destroy. some remnants are found in your system restore function. simply disable system restore and the enable and it again and it should not show up again. you should use adaware and spybot together to combat annoying spyware.
