First off, KISS does not stand for anything. Secondly, Peter, Gene, and Paul were thinking of names. They were suggesting things and cracking jokes about it. Then Paul was like, "What about KISS?" No one said anything, and the name stuck. KISS is not associated with Satan or anything Satanic, for those who think they are.
I heard that Kiss rehearsed of Kissena Blvd in Queens NY and that's were they got there name.

kiss formed in a hotel building in New York they gave up their other band called wicked lester and so paul and gene found an ad in the RollingStong magazien and it said drummer whillling to do anything so they said that's our boy and so they called him up and said we want to here you play then he got the job then when paul Stanley gene simmons were listening to anouther guy who was named bob kuilck who is the brother of Bruce kuilck which is the 80s and part of the 90s guitar player for kiss a guy waked in with an ornge sneaker and a red sneaker and plugged in his guitar and started playing and paul and gene started getting mad because he just comes barging in and playing it was ace frehley which is the origanal guitar player for kiss when paul and gene started play with ace and peter it was magic.That's the real story about kiss take it from a person who hangs out with paul Stanley.
KISS came together in 1972 i think, but while together, ace frehley and peter criss left the band. but then ace came back and reunited with KISS.
But that's besides the point.

Wanting to go further, they posted ads for drummers and lead Guitarists. Peter Criss and Ace (Paul) Freheley seemed to fit their bizarre, rock hard, persona the best and the four formed the most well known version of the rock band Kiss. They started experimenting with make up and pyromania early in their shows. It took a few years to gain popularity with their live shows doing far better than their record sales. After the release of a live album, the band took off in that arena as well.
