How did One Direction come together?

One Direction formed on Britain's X Factor in 2012. Each member came as a solo act, but got eliminated. They 5 boys were lucky enough to be invited back as a boy band with the other members. This is how their band was formed. Hope this helps!

One Direction was formed as a band when they failed to progress to the boys category on the British television reality singing competition The X Factor in 2010.

The X Factor judge, Nicole Scherzinger, suggested they be put together as a group. Putting them together qualified them for the group category on The X Factor, where they went on to win third place. After the competition, they were signed by Simon Cowell to a Syco Records record contract.

Harry Styles came up with the name One Direction.
