Les Paul are so much more heavy but a lot better sound quality, Les Paul's also have that acoustic feeling. Fender however are a more rocky type, light weight and can deliver high quality sound but not as good as the Les Paul overall fender is better known but if you play all types of music the Les Paul can adapt to that. Les Paul is the better one.
I have to say this man is wrong ^^
The les paul guitar is made mainly for rock type music while the fender (strat im guessing your thinking of?) is made more for the blues. You can not compare the two, they are complete opposites
Les Paul:
Body: Mahogany
Neck: Mahogany
Fretboard: Rosewood or Ebony
Pickups: Humbuckers
Scale length: 24 3/4"
Misc: Angled headstock, Maple Top
Strat:
Body: Alder or Ash
Neck: Maple
Fretboard: Maple or Rosewood
Pickups: Single Coil
Scale Length: 25 1/2"
Misc: Straight Headstock
Any simularities? No! Therefor the Guitars are completely different and can not be compared
Firstly the SG was made because the Les Pauls weren't selling very well. When Les Paul saw it though, he told Gibson to take his name off of it because he didn't like it.
The SG has a is a double cut away so it is easier to access the higher frets. It has a thinner body, it is lighter and some say that it is quicker to play. Some say the SG though has a weak sound compared to the Les Paul, because of the weight and density of the guitar.
The Les Paul is a single cut away so it is a little bit harder to access the higher frets. It has a curved body and is a very heavy. It has a heavier sound compared to the SG, because of the weight and density.
This being said I cannot tell you which guitar is better, you will have to go to a guitar shop and find that out for yourself.
the strat is way better! i suppose if you just want a vintage guitar that is going to sit on you're self and look pretty you can get a les paul. Or if you are an experienced player who is really delicate and you don,t play live at concerts just at your house it will work. But if youre like me, and you like rocking out hard core, you should get a stratocaster.
P.S. Rock on Baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Personally I dont think a les paul is all that bad...... Jimmy Page? Slash? Ring any bells? they never used fenders they used a good ol' les paul and look where that took them. Plus the Les Paul is 110% bad-ass
even though Gibson makes both of those, they are quite different, the les paul is quite
heavy and bigger in size than the SG which is just a few pounds and has quite a lightbody.
Now, both of these guitars are perfect for Rock Music but the les paul has more tone than
the SG does and that's makes it more appealing to blues Guitarists but I have seen countless
rock bands use both of them. the les paul's weight basically is the reason behind its sustain
and tone, but SG's are a little bit easier to play because of the body style.
That is like asking, "Which is better, a mother, or a father?"
Each model has its own sound and features that may or may not suit a particular player.
For me, I prefer a Gibson Les Paul, but they are too heavy, so I play a Guild Starfire III hollowbody, which will outplay many guitars, but is not good for high-distortion thrash or metal music, as the pickups do not have a huge output.
Also with regard to the Fenders . . . it also depends on if you are talking about the USA made Fenders, or the Mexican-made Fenders. Both are very good, but the USA made Fenders will whip the Mexican-made ones every time. That's why they cost quite a bit more.
Gibson SG, Gibson ES-335, Gibson Firebird, and Gibson Les Paul. Mainly the SG and 335, though
Jimmy Page preferred the Gibson Les Paul and Fender Stratocaster
The most famous brands or guitars are probably the fender stratocaster, fender telecaster, Les paul, Epiphone, Ibanez and Gibson
He played a Fender Stratocaster, a Gibson Les Paul, a Gibson SG all upside down with strings flipped to the left hand position. There was also a custom Paisley Gibson Flying V set for a left handed player.
Probably the Stratocaster (Most famosuly made by Fender, or Squire, Fender's sister company), Les Paul (Gibson or Epiphone) and an SG (Gibson or Epiphone). Apart from these, classic flying V's, Firebirds, and randy rhoads. :)
i think they are just about the same. i have a fender stratocaster so i say fender
Gibson SG, Gibson ES-335, Gibson Firebird, and Gibson Les Paul. Mainly the SG and 335, though
Totally depends on which amp you use and what song you play :P.
Jimmy Page preferred the Gibson Les Paul and Fender Stratocaster
fender stratocaster, fender jaguar or jazzmaster, Gibson les paul, Gibson sg, esp ec-1000, dean dimebag, esp horizon did you mean electric or acoustic?

I think it would be either a Gibson Les Paul or a Fender Stratocaster. that's only my opion though
Fender and GibsonIt depends on the type of music being played, but for classic rock, it's got to be a Fender Stratocaster or a Gibson Les Paul. They both have that amazing classic sound.

he uses a fender blacktop jaguar (black), hender Jim Root stratocaster (black), gibson les paul custom black and gibson les paul custom silverburst. those are all the guitars I know he has.
It all depends on YOU. Fender and Gibson are two completely different types of guitars for sound. If you are more into blues, jazz music then go for Fender stratocaster or telecaster and if you like rock, metal types defenently go for a Gibson sg or les paul. you will get people giving there opinion but its all down to you if your looking to buy either one go and test them down your local guitar shop. i have a fender jaguar because i like blues more then rock but Gibson are defenently one off the best for rock.
