I believe they can. Music & lyrics are supposed to tell the listener a story, the story is supposed to make the listener feel a specific emotion. Emotions definitely influence behaviors. For example , I won a chance to go tandem skydiving a few years ago. I was very excited & quite a bit nervous. I let the fear keep me from doing the skydive. I kept postponing the date over & over. Then, one day a song called "I hope you dance" by Leann Womak came on the radio while I was driving around to pass time. The song is basically about living the life you want. It tells the listener not to let fear and struggle stop the listener from doing the things he or she want to do. So, I decided to do the tandem skydive that very day. The song persuaded me to not allow this chance to slip away because I was fearful. The song made me realize I don't ever want to look back at my life and have regrets because I allowed my fear to hold me back. That song, that day definitely influenced my actions. I'm glad it did. I loved the skydiving! Another example is a sad example. Many years ago, my sister was battling a deep depression. One day, she was severly depressed & contemplating suicide. She played a certain music CD that had a lot of depressive and suicidal undertone. While I won't blame the music for her suicide attempt, I do feel the music she was listening to that day made the depression more intense which in turn made it much more difficult to keep her suicidal thoughts under control. The songs intensified her sadness and in my opinion, that sadness directly influenced her decision to end her life. Thank god her attempt failed & she is much better these days. To sum it up, I do believe music lyrics can persuade & influence a persons actions and thoughts.

Satanic, by Anton LaVey's definition, is the opposite of spiritual and deity religions; therefore, if Gwar's lyrics are expressing opposition of those things (or mainstream things); then yes.
I guess, yes. The lyrics are one of the things why it's addicting. Because most people can relate to that and the boys' voices. Hope this helped! x

Naive is sometimes defined as ignorant, meaning easy to persuade toward a certain thought or idea. Naive people can be easily persuaded by such things as propaganda.
How can they not use language? Language is the tool of the writer. Depending on the words you use, you can persuade your readers to do many things. If you're writing fiction, you can persuade them to believe in your imaginary world and like or hate your characters. If you're a journalist, you can persuade them to believe certain things by using different words. If you're an ad writer, you can create emotions with your words that make people want to buy what you're selling.
Sometimes people write the things they can't say. When people read things, they can be heavily affected by what they read, depending on the power of a certain sentence or passage. I know that for me, sometimes I'll stop and just reread certain lines over and over because they send such a powerful message in such a few amount of words. Writing is used to persuade because people often use words, and they're even more powerful when written, to appeal to the heart.
They want you to spend your money.
