Hint: Have you checked the child-proof door lock button located in the door's door jamb to make certain it is in the unlocked position?
The 2 front doors and the rear hatch will turn off the alarm with the key. One by One they will no longer turn off the alarm. It is the circuit that also turns on the inside ligthts when using the key. The circuit that leads to the door lock has gone bad and needs to be replaced. I hope this answers your question. Larry
if you have a factory alarm..you will need a power remote to reset the alarm. or you can reset the alarm be using the key in any of the door locks or in the rear hatch lock . just cycle the key to the unlock position to shut alarm off. to reset alarm to armed use the door lock power switch to lock the door then shut door and alarm will reset to on .
You disarm it by unlocking either of the front doors with a key. If that doesn't work, that means that the lock cylinder switch has fallen off of the cylinder. You will have to remove the door panel to reinstall/replace. OR. you could just pop the hood, and diconnect the battery for about a minute
OK ON MY 98 AND I BET YOURSWILL WORK THE SAME. OPEN THE PASSENGER DOOR (EITHER ONE) THEN LOOK ON THE SIDE OF THE DOOR THAT HITS THE JEEP WHEN IT WHEN CLOSING THE DOOR. THERE SHOULD ALSO BE A STICKER MARKING THIS, SAYING UP OR DOWN LOCKS..IM NOT FOR SURE BUT BY PLAYING WITH IT YOU'LL BE ABLE TO TELL...THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE FETURES OF A JEEP...MY GRAND DAUGHTER WHO IS 4 WAS SO MAD WHEN SHE FOUND HER DOOR DIDT WORK AND OPEN LIKE MOM AND DADS :>} There should be a little lever style switch right where the door latch mechanism is
Try opening a rear door then using the central locking button on the dashboard before exiting the car by the rear door

On the inside upper frame of the rear passanger door when open there are 5 bronze pegs that make contact with the door when closed, if these become dirty the electrical contact will not lock the rear door. Take fine grade sandpaper or steelwhool and shine them up, close the door and try it again.

Begin by removing the inside door panel on your 1997 Plymouth Grand Voyager. Remove the door lock linkage. Remove the door lock retaining bolts. The door lock will come out.
The rear doors have a "rear door child security lock" lever located on the door jam near the door latch (on the door). The small lever can be engaged to prevent children from opening the door or disengaged for normal operation. hope this helps, John A

the rear door lock is controlled by either the key fob or the key, and the wiper should be labeled on the wiper control. usually the very end of the wiper control is for the rear.
The rear door lock on a 1996 Chevy Suburban will not open if the mechanism has become jammed or the child lock switch has been flipped. If the child lock has been engaged, they must be unlocked from the front first.
