They definitely played Myrtle Beach in 1977 or '78 around the time of the "Some Girls" album. I was growing up in Charleston SC at that time and remember talking about it and I think some ads, though I was too young to go of course. "Miss You," "Beast of Burden," and "Shattered" were big hits off that album and were all over the radio. I'm not sure about the 'impromptu' part, though I do seem to remember there was some question as to whether the concert could be organized in time, or whether the original venue had enough capacity, or whether local authorities would allow it (SC's in The Bible Belt). I think maybe the venue was changed at the last minute from indoors to outdoors (a farm or small airport), so in that sense it was impromptu.
