yes, the active and passive parts refer to the types of pickups that are in a guitar. Many production models only make use of one type of pickup but some custom built Guitars have both types of pickups in them.
Some bass guitars have the option to switch between active and passive. An example I can think of is the Washburn XB120, a very cheap Bass Guitar. I believe you pull the tone knob, and this switches into passive mode.
if you replace the input jack and pots yes.
actives are a "Blessing" though, you can swap them at will , meaning say you have an 81 EMG and 85 EMG .. the 85 can go into your bridge and the 81 in your neck without any soldering or anything.
plus say you wanted a blackout or something by Seymour duncan , you can do that too, just put it into the same cable and you're good.

An Electric Bass is an amplified four-stringed instrument which produces low sounds. A lot of the time, the instrument will be a back-up to a more 'major' instrument in the song such as the Electric Guitar.
The double bass is still used in Rock and Roll, but the bass guitar is now used to. There are both acoustin and electric bass guitars.
Guitar and bass are almost totally opposite, guitar is more of the melody leader, while bass is a backbone to the whole bands sound. They're both important but in different ways. You have to try them out and see what you like personally.

Yes, both transitive active and passive verbs have a subject or object as the action receiver. The only difference is that transitive passive has a subject receiving action while the transitive active has an object receiving action.

In passive voice, "Our" can be used as the subject of a sentence when the active voice sentence is intransitive. For example, in active voice: "We completed the project." In passive voice: "The project was completed by us."
