My ~10 year-old Olympia digital camera calls for four HR6 batteries (specified on the case). Years ago, after consulting Radio Shack, I replaced the HR6 batteries with LR6, and they've worked well. There IS a voltage difference (1.5V for the HR6 alkaline; 1.2V for the LR6 rechargeable), but that hasn't impacted the camera's ongoing performance. However, some devices may be more or less sensitive to voltage differences. I'd suggest asking Radio Shack, or some other techie store, about your specific device.
