Many people are confused between the genres of punk and emo. Green Day has a very political mind set and falls under the punk movement. This is especially true of their older music which was made before emo was a buzz word.
But emo is not what many of you think it is. It was a type of music before it was the buzz word it is today. the buzz word meaning a kid who has choppy layered hair, wears eyeliner, skinny jeans, black and converse.

Most people would not identify Green Day as goth yet I am a very gothic lady and I believe that Green Day is the best band in this world or any other!
Do yourself a favour: buy a Green Day album or see them live. Trust me they are amazing, unbeleivable and the lyrics are so meaningful.
