Elijah wants to kill Klaus because he believes that after staking his siblings he through them into the ocean where they could never be found, when in reality Klaus kept his family in coffins the whole time.
No one knows, but I have a theory. I think maybe Elijah Alexander Smalls III did because Thomas Edison was to busy making the light bulb, so Elijah started working on series and parallel circuits. Another reason I think that is because they were at one time working together to make and improve the light bulb. It's just a theory, but it's a good one!
He actually is.. In episodes 8 (Rose) & 9 he appears to want to bring Elena to clauose but he actually wants her to be safe and to kill him
"The Sacrifice" Elena and Rose go to ask Slater about Klaus, but they find his staked corpse. Elena uses information from his computer to get Klaus's attention, saying she wants to surrender. Caroline and Tyler discover Mason's journal and the video diary that he used to document his transformations. Bonnie plans to lift the spell from the tomb and incapacitate Katherine so that Stefan can grab the moonstone, but Jeremy goes ahead with the plan alone and is captured and fed on by Katherine. Stefan saves Jeremy but is trapped himself. Three vampires confront Damon, Rose, and Elena. Elijah kills the three vampires and then departs. Back home, a trapped Stefan makes Damon promise to protect Elena. Elijah informs Luka's father that Damon and Stefan will protect Elena, which is Elijah's goal.
Before they all went into the tomb, the guard let her go so actually, she never went into the tomb in the first place.
One thought:After God used Elijah to destroy the pagan prophets of Baal(1 Kings 18:30-40), King Ahab and his wife Jezebel were outraged. Jezebel swore to kill Elijah(1 Kings 19:1-4) so he ran 200 miles away and hid in caves of Mt Sinai.
1Kgs:16:31: And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshipped him. 1Kgs:18:4: For it was so, when Jezebel cut off the prophets of the LORD, that Obadiah took an hundred prophets, and hid them by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water.) 1Kgs:18:13: Was it not told my lord what I did when Jezebel slew the prophets of the LORD, how I hid an hundred men of the LORD's prophets by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water? 1Kgs:18:19: Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves four hundred, which eat at Jezebel's table. 1Kgs:19:1: And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and withal how he had slain all the prophets with the sword. 1Kgs:19:2: Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by to morrow about this time. 1Kgs:21:5: But Jezebel his wife came to him, and said unto him, Why is thy spirit so sad, that thou eatest no bread? 1Kgs:21:7: And Jezebel his wife said unto him, Dost thou now govern the kingdom of Israel? arise, and eat bread, and let thine heart be merry: I will give thee the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite. 1Kgs:21:11: And the men of his city, even the elders and the nobles who were the inhabitants in his city, did as Jezebel had sent unto them, and as it was written in the letters which she had sent unto them. 1Kgs:21:14: Then they sent to Jezebel, saying, Naboth is stoned, and is dead. 1Kgs:21:15: And it came to pass, when Jezebel heard that Naboth was stoned, and was dead, that Jezebel said to Ahab, Arise, take possession of the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, which he refused to give thee for money: for Naboth is not alive, but dead. 1Kgs:21:23: And of Jezebel also spake the LORD, saying, The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel. 1Kgs:21:25: But there was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the LORD, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up. 2Kgs:9:7: And thou shalt smite the house of Ahab thy master, that I may avenge the blood of my servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of the LORD, at the hand of Jezebel. 2Kgs:9:10: And the dogs shall eat Jezebel in the portion of Jezreel, and there shall be none to bury her. And he opened the door, and fled. 2Kgs:9:22: And it came to pass, when Joram saw Jehu, that he said, Is it peace, Jehu? And he answered, What peace, so long as the whoredoms of thy mother Jezebel and her witchcrafts are so many? 2Kgs:9:30: And when Jehu was come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it; and she painted her face, and tired her head, and looked out at a window. 2Kgs:9:36: Wherefore they came again, and told him. And he said, This is the word of the LORD, which he spake by his servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, In the portion of Jezreel shall dogs eat the flesh of Jezebel: 2Kgs:9:37: And the carcase of Jezebel shall be as dung upon the face of the field in the portion of Jezreel; so that they shall not say, This is Jezebel.
Jezebel was the evil wife of the King Ahab (who was very evil himself). She tried to kill all the prophets of the one true God. She also tried to rule Israel through her two sons after Ahab died. Eventually, a man named Jehu kills Jezebel's son (who was ruling after the other son died) and tells her eunuchs to throw her out a window, which they do. She gets eaten by dogs and only her skull, feet, and hands are left.
In the King James versionthe word - jezebel - appears 22 times1 Kin 16:31 And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshipped him.1 Kin 18:4 For it was so, when Jezebel cut off the prophets of the LORD, that Obadiah took an hundred prophets, and hid them by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water.)1 Kin 18:13 Was it not told my lord what I did when Jezebel slew the prophets of the LORD, how I hid an hundred men of the LORD's prophets by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water?1 Kin 19:1 And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and withal how he had slain all the prophets with the sword.1 Kin 19:2 Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by to morrow about this time.1 Kin 21:5 But Jezebel his wife came to him, and said unto him, Why is thy spirit so sad, that thou eatest no bread?1 Kin 21:7 And Jezebel his wife said unto him, Dost thou now govern the kingdom of Israel? arise, and eat bread, and let thine heart be merry: I will give thee the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite.1 Kin 21:11 And the men of his city, even the elders and the nobles who were the inhabitants in his city, did as Jezebel had sent unto them, and as it was written in the letters which she had sent unto them.1 Kin 21:14 Then they sent to Jezebel, saying, Naboth is stoned, and is dead.1 Kin 21:15 And it came to pass, when Jezebel heard that Naboth was stoned, and was dead, that Jezebel said to Ahab, Arise, take possession of the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, which he refused to give thee for money: for Naboth is not alive, but dead.1 Kin 21:23 And of Jezebel also spake the LORD, saying, The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel.1 Kin 21:25 But there was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the LORD, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up.2 Kin 9:7 And thou shalt smite the house of Ahab thy master, that I may avenge the blood of my servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of the LORD, at the hand of Jezebel.2 Kin 9:10 And the dogs shall eat Jezebel in the portion of Jezreel, and there shall be none to bury her. Elijah killed the prophets of Baal because they were leading the people of Israel away from worshiping the one true God and towards the false god Baal. By eliminating the prophets of Baal, Elijah sought to protect the Israelites from being led astray and to reaffirm their commitment to following God alone.
The prophet Elijah fled for his life from a furious and vengeful Jezebel after he had killed 450 of her prophets:-1Ki 16:29-33 KJV ... Ahab the son of Omri reigned over [ie the northern kingdom of] Israel in Samaria twenty and two years. (v.30) And Ahab ... did evil in the sight of the LORD above all that werebefore him. (v.31) And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshipped him. (v.32) And he reared up an altar for Baal in the house of Baal, which he had built in Samaria. (v.33) And Ahab made a grove; and Ahab did more to provoke the LORD God of Israel to anger than all the kings of Israel that were before him.1Ki 18:19-21 KJV Now therefore send, andgather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves four hundred, which eat at Jezebel's table. (v.20) So Ahab sent unto all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets together unto mount Carmel. (v.21) And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD beGod, follow him: but if Baal, thenfollow him. And the people answered him not a word.1Ki 18:36-40 KJV And it came to pass at the time ofthe offering of the eveningsacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou artGod in Israel, and thatI amthy servant, and thatI have done all these things at thy word. (v.37) Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that thou artthe LORD God, and thatthou hast turned their heart back again. (v.38) Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that wasin the trench. (v.39) And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, The LORD, he isthe God; the LORD, he isthe God. (v.40) And Elijah said unto them, Take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them: and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there.1Ki 19:1-3 KJV And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and withal how he had slain all the prophets with the sword. (v.2) Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by to morrow about this time. (v.3) And when he [Elijah] saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beersheba, which belongethto [ie the southern kingdom of] Judah , and left his servant there.
The execution of the 450 priests is described in 1 Kings 18:40, where Elijah ordered the prophets of Baal to be brought down to the Kishon Valley and killed. This event follows the showdown between Elijah and the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel.
King Ahab was killed in battle with the Syrians. I believe tradition says that Naaman was the certain man who drew his bow and his arrow hit Ahab between the joints in his armor. You can read this fantastic story in I Kings. It was prophesied by Elijah that Jezebel shall be eaten by dogs by the wall of Jezreel. II Kings tells us the story of Jezebel's death. Jehu was anointed King of the northern kingdom and he comes to Jezreel and looks up into a window and sees Jezebel. There happens to be a couple of eunuchs in the room with her. So Jehu tells them to throw Jezebel out the window , which they do and Jehu's horse tramples her. Later they went to bury Jezebel and could find nothing of her but her skull, the feet and the palms of her hands. The dogs had eaten her.
Jezebel was a worshipper of Baal and systematically tried to wipe out the prophets of God. * Instead of accepting her husband's faith, she openly promoted and funded Baal worship. * She was able to influence her husband away from the worship of God very quickly after marriage, because her husband King Ahab began building temples and idols to Baal. * She had many priests of Baal under her authority. * She had a very big run-in with the prophet Elijah in 1 Kings. * She also had a man killed because this man did not want to part with his vineyard, and King Ahab wanted it. So, she set the guy up and had him stoned to death, after which, Ahab took possession of the vineyard. * Many studies have asserted that Jezebel was the most wicked woman in the Bible because nothing good came from anything she did. She was selfish, self absorbed, and self-centered. * She used seduction often, and tried to unite paganism with Judaism.
In the second book of Chronicles chapter 10 does not have 28 verses. So there are no prophets there. However if you mean 2 Chronicles CHAPTERS 10-28, the prophets mentioned appear to be Shemaiah (2 Chron 12:5), Oded (2 Chron 15:8), Elijah(21:2), and Isaiah (26:22)
Prophet Elijah showed God's power at Mt Carmel. he showed God's power through restoring Yahweism back. People had been into apostacy, worshipping baal and asherah. Other prophets were in hiding from Jezebel yet Elijah was not, his exterminating the opposing prophetic career. Pophet Elijah delt with social injustice where he delt with Naboth's vineyard and the Ahab confrontation. He is credited by the still small voice of inspiration as opposed to violent ecstacy. Elijah's miracles e.g at the contest on Carmel and the raising of the widow's son. Him becomingg a prophetoic successor to himself in the person of Elisha.
"Halley's Bible Handbook" [with the King James Version] informs us that Elijah was one of the last of the "Oral" prophets; an "order of prophets": "...with schools..." [some refer to them as the "school of prophets, college of prophets, prophet college, etc.]"...The priesthood had become quite degenerate, and contemporaneous with the organization of the Kingdom. Samuel, it seems, initiated these schools as a sort of moral check on both priests and kings."These Prophets functioned through a period of some 300 years before the time of the Prophets who wrote the closing 17 books of the Old Testament. They are called "Oral" Prophets, to distinguish them from the "Literary" Prophets who wrote the books."The leading "Oral" Prophets were: Samuel, organizer of the Kingdom; Nathan, adviser to David; Ahijah, adviser to Jeroboam; Elijah and Elisha, who led in the grand fight against Baalim."(Halley's Bible Handbook: Classic Ed. - Prophets p.179)So, while Elijah and others of the "schools of the prophets" during this period aren't credited with literary contributions to the Bible... they are written about throughout by the inspired "Literary" prophets who recounted their steps.Yet, it was these "chroniclers" of the Old Testament who tell of "one writing of Elijah;" a letter, that appeared some 10 years AFTER a "whirlwind" whisked him away into the sky, never to be seen again. It was addressed to the son of one of the kings who was in Elijah's charge before he disappeared. The royal father and son had ruled "jointly" during Elijah's charge... and when the son [10 years later] ruled alone... quite errantly... after his father's death -- he received the "absentee" Elijah's shocking letter of rebuke and Judgment."...there came a writing to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus saith the Lord God of David thy father, Because thou hast not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat thy father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah, but hast walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and hast made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to go a whoring, like to the whoredoms of the house of Ahab, and also hast slain thy brethren of thy father's house, which were better than thyself: Behold, with a great plague will the Lord smite thy people, and thy children, and thy wives, and all thy goods: and thou shalt have great sickness by disease of thy bowels, until thy bowels fall out by reason of the sickness day by day." (II Chronicles 21:12-15)
