Previous answer was completely wrong.

Peter Pan ran away from home when he was one day old because he heard his parents talking about what he was to be when he was a man. He adds that he never wants to be a man, but be a little boy forever. He lived with the fairies in Kensington gardens for a long time 'and still does sometimes' (Peter Pan and Wendy: JM Barrie)

The Little White Bird has a variation of this story.
