The system of primogeniture which was in effect in Shakespeare's day and still applies to the monarchy now, did not always apply. Frequently monarchs were elected rather than selected by virtue of being the eldest son. Shakespeare alludes to this when Hamlet says that Claudius "popped in between the election and my hopes", and when he predicts that " th' election lights on Fortinbras."
Nuns cannot marry so Hamlet wanted Ophelia to stay away from him and he did'nt want to be married to her. Another possibility was Ophelia could have been pregnant. During this time women who became pregnant went to nunneries when they started to show. They didnt want anyone to know they were pregnant.
There is no background on Claudius' rule. He could have very well have been a better king than Hamlet's father. Hamlet was so consumed with hatred, that he did not even kill the king for the people, he killed him for himself. Plus, he left the nation powerless to the invading nation. He was selfish and filled with hatred. If he had a problem with Claudius and his Mother, he should have talked it out with them. Claudius brought in Hamlet's friends to find out what was wrong with him, and all Hamlet did was have them killed. Hamlet was not a tragic hero, he was a villain.
In most cases, the identified father. see links below
The husband is presumed to be the father of any children conceived/born during the marriage, unless/until proven otherwise.
In my opinion i feel as tho its tragic because his father didnt like that he was aging backwards, later on in the story his wife didnt like that he was aging backwards nor their son Roscoe. if you are reading the book evidence can be found in pages 2-32
This is from Hamlet. What it means is that Hamlet suspected his father was murdered. Which he was, but at that stage he didnt know this.
they didnt
after Harald didnt get the throne of England he went into the battle of hastings and fought by dividing his army into 2 halfs
Hamlet's father was murdered by his own brother (Hamlet's uncle), Claudius. Claudius then wooed and married Hamlet's mother Gertrude. The ghost of Hamlet's father visits Hamlet to inform him of these crimes so that he may be avenged.
Ophelia loves Hamlet and is devastated by his rejection of her--it is one reason she loses her mind. Gertrude also loves Hamlet; this becomes apparent in the Closet scene, and her behaviour afterwards. Hamlet unfortunately does not return either of their loves with the intensity with which they give it.
