Why are teenagers nasty?

No, it is simply a lack of vocabulary and a way to cover up for that lack and to irritate anyone who might enjoy the English language. It is a also form of verbal exageration to make the user feel important when in fact they feel lacking.

Not all teenagers are nasty, but one of the reasons for these mood swings and nasty times is hormones.

Some children/teenagers are just cruel to begin with.

They think that they can control everybody around them by making people afraid of them, and to a certain extent they are right. Their methods do often work.

The reason behind it might be that they think violence brings status.

They try to take with power what they do not manage to get by being nice.

The strange thing about it is that they do not consider themselves to be nasty.

For them, it is just normal behaviour. They have "always" behaved like that.

Many of the reasons behind bad behaviour is to find in their childhood. It is after all the parents that are shaping the minds of their children. This is mostly done without actually thinking about it. Consider a child that is such a princess/prince. She/he get everything she/he points at. This teaches the child that this is how it is supposed to be. When not giving a child "hard times", the child will repay by giving everybody else hard times in order for itself to enjoy getting everything.

Ultimately, it is certain wrongdoings of their parents that is the main cause of the child's behaviour. For many parents, they can not understand, because they gave their child everything... and that is exactly my main point. By giving and doing everything, the child becomes a nasty teenager that care for nobody but her/him self.

There are many ways of creating nasty teenagers. I will skip the obvious problems parents doing drugs, beating their children senseless, drinking, incest, etc. can and most likely will create.

There have been written many a book about this subject, but I disagree with many of them. Some writers say that all children can be "made" in ones image of a perfect child. It is only about using the correct methods.

I would say that All children can be taught good and bad behaviour, but for some children, this does not make them good nor bad. Knowledge of good or bad make it easier to make choices, but some children have less of a conscience than other children. Although knowing the difference between good or bad, they might prefer to be bad because that is where their gain is in the heat of the moment.

Social and cultural factors apply, but: We should never accept cruelty or nasty behaviour from anybody.
