"The original Batman" was a series simply called "Batman", it was released in serial style in 1943. Each episode was about 20 minutes long and you had to go to a theatre to watch it, b/c most people didn't have TVs back then. If you're talking about the movies, Adam West's Batman movie was released in 1966; the Batman movie directed by Tim Burton and starring Michael Keaton was released in 1989.
