In three of the four references I was able to find, Simpson Island is described as being "uninhabited.' It is also referred to as being a "Canadian Island," and in another reference as "An island of Ontario." Based on this information, I would tend to believe that Simpson Island belongs to Canada and probably falls under the jurisdiction of the Canadian Province of Ontario.
