Water occurs in rivers that pass through some deserts and some deserts have natural lakes and ponds. Water is also found in an oasis where ground water comes to the surface in the form of a spring or in wells dug by natives of the area. As none of these resources can always be safe for humans to drink, you would be best to take along safe drinking water you visit a desert.

Not always, but sometimes water can be found underground. An oasis is where water may come near to the surface. Digging in the deepest place in a dry river bed may also produce water.
