before WWII NZ economy was very weak (an on the verge of bankruptcie) and was suffering inflation, During the war The British went to fight and needed food source, and considering the fact NZ main export was meat and dairy products, NZ farmers made a fortune, and boosted our econmy.

Well they were affected alot.Many women had never been in paid work,so going from everyday housewife to factory work was quite a change!Many women worked in factories making weopons,tobacco,etc and worked in shops,on farms.Women and men at home setup committies to support the troops overseas by providing them with extra food,tobacco and blankets,etc.The Woman's Land Army was formed to provide labour on farms.The Woman's Auxillary Army was made to perform a range of war-time duties such as driving,typing,mechanic and domestic chores overseas.

There was No television they used radios to listen to and newspapers to read ................ they had a little amount of food , clothes , they had coupons for food ,clothes, meat, cream and tea . thanks x
