The Blair Witch and 'myth' surrounding its story base are entirely fiction. It was made to seem real as hype to get more people to see the movie; and to scare them speechless. The Blair Witch was loosely inspired by the myth surrounding the happenings of the Bell Witch.
The 1999 movie The Blair Witch Project is set in Burkitsville, Maryland. The Blair Witch is supposed to haunt the surrounding woods. However, while the moviemakers may have drawn some of their inspiration from the real legend of the Bell Witch, the legend of the Blair Witch is entirely fictional.
The Blair Witch is just a ficitional character, although, there actually is a town called Blair.
No, the tree actresses, were hired to go in the woods and pretend to be lost & hungry and cold, and then pretend to die, if they were really dead then how did co-star joshua have an interveiw after the movie ? this is all fake :) & yes, you can buy the movie the blair witch prodject in the fictional section of a nearby movie store :) because it is fake :D The real story happened with 5 kids who went missing and were never found... neither were their tapes. they don't exist anymore...
Sorry to spoil the money making vilification of witches worldwide but NO it is not real. The "legend" was a total fabrication by the film writer/directors Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sanchez. A very low budget, documentary fake could have been called the Blair Missing Students but that was not catchy enough, so in typical movie fashion, the word WITCH was thrown in and people flocked to the movie to see how bad witches were. It worked and now we have thousands unable or unwilling to believe that it actually is a work of fiction. A sad commentary on the willingness of human gullibility. Links provided for those still unwilling to accept the truth.
nope.

The Blair Witch isn't real. It was just a bad 90s horror movie. Nothing about that movie is real. It isn't even based on legend or lore. The movie is, from beginning to end, nothing but fiction.

No that story was based on the Jersey Devil tale.
No. The film was created in a documentary style to appear real, but isn't actually real.
The movie exists, so yes, it is real. But it is not a true story, nor is it based on a true story. It is make-believe, just like any other movie. It merely employs a realistic filming style, as in The Blair Witch Project.
No. It's completely fictional. It's not real footage, and it's not based on a true story, either. It is a 100% imaginary story, although it is rumored that the filmmakers got the idea from the real legend of the Bell Witch. There is no real legend of the Blair Witch. The Blair Witch does not exist, in American folklore or in reality. She was invented solely for the purposes of making this movie.

AnswerNo, sadly the three kids were never found. Only the tape was recovered from the woods.AnswerThe movie was FAKE. If it wasn't, why would the cast include the REAL names of the actors in the movie, the director, producer, writer etc, as well as if you did a little research you would find that they were actors who have been in other films.I will refer you to these links (the imdb - Internet Movie DataBase -- page about the film, as well as the Wikipedia page.AnswerThe first answer is dead wrong, and the second is exactly right. The Blair Witch Project (1999) was touted as a true story, but that was just a hoax to get more people to see it. (This is not an unheard-of tactic -- The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was also advertised as a true story, when in fact it is fiction. See the third Related Link for details). In reality, all of the actors in the Blair Witch Project are alive and well to this day.
