It is not possible today for anyone to live the life of the Plains tribes (including the Cheyenne). The Great Plains no longer exist, the huge herds of deer, antelope, elk and buffalo no longer exist and many of the cultural traditions and religious practices are forgotten.
The tipi-style lodges constructed by Cheyenne in the past relied on the hides of many buffalo in their construction; nobody could today reconstruct even a small village of these lodges because not enough buffalo hides are available.
One small but important example of a lost tradition will illustrate the point: historically, most native American tribes removed all facial hair (including the eyebrows) - photographs of Cheyenne people taken up to about 1930 show them all without eyebrows. This tradition is lost and modern Cheyenne people do not even know that this tradition was practised by their ancestors; no Cheyenne man, woman or child today removes their eyebrows.

The Pueblo Indians met their basic needs through a combination of agriculture, hunting, and gathering. They cultivated crops such as corn, beans, and squash using irrigation systems to support their sedentary lifestyle. Additionally, they hunted game animals and gathered wild plants to supplement their diet. The Pueblo Indians also utilized trade networks to acquire resources not readily available in their region.
