I would not paint them. Paint or any other coating or stickers will increase heat retention which causes an earlier failure of electrical devices.
You could try testors car model paint as it is designed for plastic or even a nail polish if your looking for accents in bright bold colors. As with most things test it first in an area that will not show to reduce problems if it causes damage to the appearance of the controller
