As for the very end with the Volturi, they convince them that Renesmee is not a threat. They do this by finding another half human-half vampire named Nahuel. They show the Volturi that Nahuel is not dangerous, and they leave the Cullens unharmed. However, Irina from the Denali Coven is killed for the false alarm with Renesmee being unsafe to them.
The resolution for the conflict in the book twilight is that James the evil vampire trying to kill Bella is killed by Emmet and Jasper.
