What is the most city-like city in Texas? That's a stupid question, but okay, I'll answer it. There are several large cities in Texas, each with it's own unique personality. Take your choice of the following: Houston and Corpus Christi - Cities on the Gulf Coast - Houston is the 4th largest city inthe US, and the largest city in Texas. It is a major port of entry, is home to NASA's Johnson Space Center and Mission Control, is a center of the oil industry as well as a financial center. They are strong in the Arts, with museums, performing arts and the Houston Ballet. Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex - Cultural and Financial centers - This is a HUGE area including everything in between the two cities as well as surrounding areas. Dallas has the highest number of corporate headquarters of any city in the United States, and is a leader in professional sports teams. It is also home to the Cotton Bowl and the famous State Fair of Texas featuring Big Tex! From the place where I live in Texas, it is SO not a country-type thing. I live in McKinney (a suburb of the Dallas/Ft.Worth metroplex). Most of you haven't heard of it, but you should check out the MALLS. Really. And, not to mention, most of the Disney Channel stars grew up or were born there. Including the Jonas brothers (look it up!!!). Austin - The state capitol, and home to the University of Texas - rich in history and reagional culture. The surrounding area is called the "Texas Hill Country", and boasts some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world, especially during wildflower season. Many people consider San Antonio to be the very best city in Texas. It has a vibe that is really unique in the state - some have compared it to cities in Europe. The only US cities that have this quality are San Francisco, and New Orleans. The river walk is awesome, and the systems of old Spanish missions is a fun way to spend a day. And of course you must never forget the Alamo! So take your pick - There are so many "city-like" cities in Texas. Consider the question answered.
