The equivalent rank of Lt Colonel in the Police is a Supdt of Police in the District or a Deputy Commissioner of Police in any of the Metro cities
It is the second most powerful country in the world and has the second largest standing army
General
All officers of the Canadian (and British, Australian and New Zealand) armed forces are commissioned, i.e., 'constituted and appointed' to their rank and authority by the Queen either directly or through her representative such as the Governor-General.A commission is a personal appointment between the Sovereign and the officer whose duties and responsibilities are then exercised in the Navy, Army, or Air Force until and sometimes beyond retirement.Unless one resigns one's commission in writing to a superior officer, the commission and last rank are retained for life.It is considered very bad form to resign a commission.Upon retirement from active or reserve duty, one's rank is retained but is not normally used by those below Field Rank, for example, Junior officers with the rank of Captain, Lieutenant and Second-Lieutenant (Army) would not normally use their rank in most circumstances. Those with the rank of Major, Lieutenant-Colonel, Colonel, Brigadier, and Generals generally are identified with their rank with the addition of 'Ret'd'.
Lauri Törni (28th of May 1919 -- 18th of October 1965) was a knight of the Mannerheim, and he served in the Finland army as a captain, in the 1941 in the SS team as a Untersturmführer and in the 1945 as a Hauptsturmführer (captain). In the United States army Törni served as a captain and after his death, he was promoted to be a major. Also in the December of 2006 Törni was chosen in the reader vote of a Finnish Suomen Sotilas (Finnish Soldier) to be the bravest Mannerheim knight of all.
Captain
In the US and British armed forces, a Naval Commander is equivalent in rank to an Army Lt. Colonel and a Naval Captain is equivalent in rank to an Army Colonel. Please see the related links.
Captain (The Navy has a rank of Captain that is equivalent of an Army Colonel, or such.)
there is no police rank equivalent to indian army captain!
Commander is a rank exclusive to the Navy. It is the equivalent of an Army/Air Force/Marine Corps Lieutenant Colonel (O5). A Navy Captain is equivalent to an Army/Air Force/Marine Corps Colonel (O6), whereas a Captain in the Army, Air Force, or Marine Corps is O3. A Navy Captain outranks a Commander, but a Commander outranks an Army, Air Force, or Marine Corps Captain.
This is filed under US ARmy and US Navy, so let me clarify.. A Captain in the Army is pay grade O3, whereas a Colonel in the Army is pay grade O6. Colonel is the higher of the two. The Navy has a different rank structure for officers than the other branches. A Captain in the Navy is 06 - equivalent to Colonel. The rank of Colonel does not exist in the Navy.
Captain 1st Rank in the Russian Navy is the highest Senior Officers rank, preceded by Captain 2nd Rank and followed by Rear Admiral. It corresponds to the rank of Colonel in the Army and the Air Force.
Lieutenant Colonel, also for Marine Corp and Air Force. The equivalent ranks are: Army / Marines / Air Force - Lt. Colonel (Silver Oak Leaf) Navy / Coast Guard - Commander (Silver Oak Leaf) Both pay grades are O-5.
i think so. cuz in movies u nevr hear any1 address a first or second lieutenant This depends. Second Lieutenants and First Lieutenants are both addressed verbally as "Lieutenant". The Army, Marine Corps, and Air Force have Second Lieutenants as the lowest Commissioned Officer rank. They are then promoted to First Lieutenants. The next rank for Army, Marine Corps, and Air Force Officers is Captain. The Navy has the rank of Lieutenant but is a higher rank. Naval Officers begin as Ensign. They are promoted to Lieutenant JG (junior grade) and then to Lieutenant. The Navy Lieutenant is the equivalent of an Army Captain. The Navy also has the Captain rank, but the Navy Captain is the equivalent of an Army Colonel.
There is no 'formal' comparative military rank/General Schedule comparison, although a GS11, for the most part, would be considered equivalent to an O-3 (Captain in the Army, Air Force, and Marine Corps, Lieutenant in the Navy).
No, there is no rank of commander in the Army. In the Army commander is a title, not a rank. In the Navy, there is a rank of Commander, it is the equivalent of Lt Colonel or O-5.
There is no such rank in civiailan life. A captain is a military rank
