Basically, it is about Elphaba, the so-called "Wicked Witch of the West", and Galinda, or "Glinda the Good". The story is about how Elphaba became Wicked, and is the overall story of how Galinda made her that way. The girls go to college, meet Fiyero, the Scarecrow, who they both fall in love with. Boq, the tinman, ends up stuck with Nessarose, the Wicked Witch of the East. The lion actually like Elphaba. Basically, Elphaba isn't Wicked, but ends up thinking she must be, because of a series of events leading to that revelation. Galinda, attempting to keep her job, makes everyone think Elphaba is Wicked, though she knows she's really not.
