Once horses were introduced, they walked, rode horses, and used the horses to haul their belongings on a travois.

Cherokee Indians , as you can guess walked everywhere . They used canoes for fishing , they also used Travois (pulled by dogs). Travois use was limited and debated. They pretty much did this until Spanish Explorers brought horses. ;)
Usually the Plains Indians would use the travois...it is also used as a pole for their teepees.

A sled pulled by dogs, used not only by the Cherokee, but also by the Dakotas and a lot more tribes. It was a tee pee that got taken down and then was put on a dog to carry the owner's belongings. They used dogs because horses had not yet been introduced.
The Siksika put their belonging on the travois and the dogs dragged it.So the Travois is really important to the Siksika.
