This can vary a lot between different meteors; the main classification, if I remember correctly, is between "ice meteors" that are made up mainly of ice, and "rock meteors", out of rocky materials.

There are three main groups f meteorite composition:

  • iron
  • stony-irons
  • stones.

Iron meteorites contain two nickel-iron alloy metals: kamacite and taenite.

Stony-irons contain nickel-iron alloy and silicate minerals.

Stony meteorites (the most abundant of the three meteorite groups) contain silicate minerals olivine, pyroxene, and plagioclase feldspars.

It depends on the type of meteorite.

Stony meteorites are composed of Iron and magnesium silicates.

Stony-Iron meteorites are composed of silicates and Iron and Nickel metals.

Iron meteorites are composed of Iron and Nickel metals and Iron sulphides.
Stone or metal.
They contain Amino Acid and water. Amino Acid is very important because it is necessary for life.
Meteorites have traditionally been divided into three broad categories: stony meteorites are rocks, mainly composed of silicate minerals; iron meteorites are largely composed of metallic iron-nickel; and, stony-iron meteorites contain large amounts of both metallic and rocky material

There is a wide variety of meteoroids (a meteoroid is essentially a moving object in interplanetary space that has not yet entered the Earth's atmosphere). Some meteoroids are low-density snowball-like objects, similar to comets, while others are composed of a nickel-iron alloy.

It's a comet that has a nucleus, not a meteor. That's the rocky part, which is surrounded by dust and gas, which is what provide the "tails" when the comet gets close enough to its star to experience the solar/stellar wind.

Meteors glow, not from the solar wind, but from the friction of the Earth's atmosphere, which is rich in oxygen. Think of furious rusting. The whole thing is anything from a speck of dust to a rock (sometimes one with a lot of iron in it).

Depends on the meteor. The majority of meteors are made of stone, and there are a few that are predominantly iron.
