PS3 originally had 4 USB ports and after a few models they all came with 2 USB ports. The PS3 never had a model with a single USB port and the early models with 4 USB ports are the ones that play some PS2 game titles. The production of any 4 USB port model ended with the 2 USB port 80 GB PS3 model release in August 2008.
The USB cable that comes with the PS3 is to allow charging of the controller and also playing with an uncharged controller. It is also used for the controller to become recognizable by the PS3 and develop the initial connection needed for the blue tooth system. It is also used when optional controllers are added to the PS3. Up to seven controllers can be operated with the blue tooth system after the PS3 has recognized them
Get the cord that has the iPod Connect thing and a USB connect thing. Plug iPod into It's connect thing, and plus USB into the PS3's USB port. Go to the music tab or whatever thingy.
No you can not load or download games into or from the PS3 with the USB port
There is the A/V cable which can be replaced with an optional HDMI cable. The Charging Cable which is a Mini USB and a Full size USB at the other end. There is also a Power Cord. They can be an Ethernet Cable for a wired online connection, but it would not be part of the PS3 equipment in the box

There are USB to USB cables (male to female) that should work just fine, available in various lengths.
It depends on what you plug the other end into. You can plug it into a PS3, a wall adapter, to name a couple. It really does depend on which kind of cord it is.

If your ps3 controller does not connect from pressing the PS button, then you have to plug it in with the cord that came with your ps3 directly in the USB port located in the front of the ps3. Once it connects, you can then unplug it and play wireless. In future times, you can start your ps3 by pressing the PS button, although their may be the occasional times that you will have to plug in the controller.

The PlayStation can not use the USB for an internet connection. The only way the PS3 can have an internet connection is with the WiFi or from the ethernet cable A PS3 has a wireless card inbuilt, I believe, so there shouldn't be a need for this.
