The back story is filled with dinstinctively melodramatic girly overtones, exploring everyday topics such as beauty, fashion, shopping and love. Much of the work mixes reality with fiction, adopting a protagonistic double life. Although adopting distinguished English, the storyline is filled with hyperbole and other irregular literary devices, attracting criticism for failing to follow poetic convention, much yet alone convention itself. Perhaps this irregular and eccentric writing style has led to its success, establishing it as a great primary and high school text.
