I am not an expert but I can offer the following information.

There is no Canadian nationality, only Canadian citizenship, although there is a political theory with strong supporters, that there is a true Canadian nationality, a theory hotly contested by several, mostly the francophone province of Quebec. The latter's legislature, for example, has always been called the National Assembly.

Constitutionally, Canada is composed of two nations, the English-speaking and the French-speaking. Then there are the First Nations comprised of the inhabitants of Canada before the arrival of the Europeans in the 16th century. But at the international level , Canada does not recognise that they form nations but hold them to be "peoples".

This is a very rapid exposition of the situation.
