As a minor you have no choice unless you are abused and then can end up in foster home. There is always a time when living at home is hard and you want out, it's a part of growing up. In most places you can seek emancipation at 16 but that means you will have to fill the criteria concerning paying the bills by yourself, place to live, school etc.

umm maybe he should call his mom and ask to stay and if she doesn't let you stay with her then, tell her why you are uncomfortable with your current home.

What if a child's parents are divorced and they want to live with the other parent?

If a child wants to live with the non-custodial parent, the parents will have to go back through the court system to change the custody agreement. Most states will allow the opinion of a 14 year old child as to where they want to live.

You're this child's parents now. Yes your child might not want to live with you.... but handle this as if the child was your birth child and make a decision that you would stick to if the child hadn't been adopted.

How does the court decide on a relitave that a child can live with if the child doesnt want to live with either of their parents?

A child is not allowed to choose who to live with, that is up to the parents or the court to decide. In some states the child can say what they wish but the judge is in no way obligated to follow that wish. And the relative have to let the parents know they are interested so the parents can go to court and have custody changed and decide on how much child support is going to be paid to the relative. So unless you are abused by your parents, in that case contact the Child Protective Agency, your parents are the ones deciding for you and they are the ones you should turn to. In case of abuse the social workers will ask relatives if they are interested and if they are, they have to petition the court for custody or foster care.

What age does the child have to be to decide whether they want to live with a relative not the parents?
